The SFV Europa Judo Lions attended the Bruger Roland Tournament on February 14th 2009 and placed third in team competition among 59 clubs and 350 participants: Tom Fricke (-46 kg), Jan VanderForst (-37 kg), Frederik Jäde (-43 kg), Sven Gärtner (-40 kg) and Nina Lange (-40 kg) won Gold, Timo Sixt (-40 kg) won Silver and Roberto Di Gioia won Bronze (-40 kg) for the Lions.

The younger Judoka Christopher Täger and Karina Zabbarow won Bronze as well in their weight categories, while Jona Abraham, Christian Wesche, Tarek Scharifi, Moritz Schindler and Geron Amirpour showed some fine matches as well. Magnus Lubkowitz placed fifth after some very concentrated fights and Moritz Sinning - still well under weight in his weight category -34 kg - showed some brilliant fighting spirit in his matches but did not yet reach medal ranks in this strong field.
